We’ve got a few exciting updates to share — plus a little housekeeping on what’s coming next week.

🚧 Feature Updates & Upcoming Projects

Many of you have been asking about Lorebooks and Group Chats — here’s where we are:

📘 Private Lorebooks are currently live for our closed beta group, and early feedback’s been super helpful! We’re squashing bugs and aiming to roll it out to everyone within the next 3–4 weeks.

💬 Group Chats are actively in development and will also head to closed beta testing soon.

🌍 Multilingual Interface is in the works too, with an expected release early next year — so you’ll soon be able to browse Spicychat in your preferred language. 

We’ll also be opening up our beta testers group to more users tomorrow — keep an eye on announcements if you’d like to join!

We know these are highly requested features, and we’re taking our time to make sure they launch smooth and strong.

🔞 Age Assurance Launching Next Week

In order to effectively enforce our guidelines and policies, next week, we’ll start rolling out age assurance in places where it’s a legal requirement. It’s not the most exciting change — and we get that — but it’s something we have to do to support these regions. 

This rollout will cover:

🇺🇸 U.S. states including AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, OH, OK, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, WY

⚠️ Important: You’ll have a grace period to get verified when is convenient for you.

Web:

• Fixed an issue where pressing Load Previous Messages jumped you back to the bottom.
  
  
• Fixed a UX issue where clicking on images in selected messages would open them incorrectly.
  
  
• Fixed crashes when selecting or searching tags while creating chatbots.
  
  

Android:

• Fixed “See More” being blocked when viewing full bot personalities.

A quick update on the iOS situation: while the due date for the app’s removal has arrived, we still haven’t heard back from Apple on our appeal. We'll keep you posted as soon as we have some news. Please remember that monthly subscriptions purchased through iOS will not renew.  🛠️ Bug Fixes (Web)

* Fixed an issue where editing a bot in draft status would give an error.

* Cloning a message now properly redirects you to the cloned chat.

* The Title field on Chatbot/Persona creation now expands correctly for long titles.

* Saved Chats now load properly, even for users with a very large number of conversations.

📱 Android App Updates

* Our refreshed SpicyChat logo is now live in the app.

* The “Less Like This” option has been added, letting you hide bots you’re not interested in and improving future recommendations.

* Reporting bots has been fixed — you can now flag content that violates our guidelines without issues.

These are the smaller fixes and tweaks on the surface — but behind the scenes, the team is working hard on two major features many of you have been waiting for. We’re aiming to roll them out in the final quarter of this year, and we can’t wait for you to try them.

• Better Readability Across Devices: Chat bubbles now adjust more naturally to your screen size. Whether you’re on desktop or laptop, the text should feel less cramped and easier to follow.
• Cleaner Message Alignment: All user messages now align consistently to the left, making conversations look more polished and easier to scan.
• Smoother Message Actions: When you want to remove or clone a message, the entire chat bubble is now clickable instead of just a small section, making the process much simpler.
• Consistent Chat Alignment Across Platforms: The chat alignment behaviour is now unified between Web and Native, so it feels the same no matter where you’re chatting.

• Fixed an issue where the Province/State field in checkout wouldn’t always save correctly.
• Fixed a problem where errors weren’t showing up properly if you added more than 12 tags while creating a chatbot.

💬 New Chat Layout is Live!

The community has spoken... and we listened! The chat layout with the most votes from our recent poll is now live, bringing you a more polished and conversational style chat bubble.

🗣️ Text-to-Speech Upgrades

• Narration Toggle: You can now choose whether the narrator reads both dialogue and action, or dialogue only.

• Improved Voice Selection: You’ll now find separate buttons to preview and select a voice, plus a cleaner layout!

🌐 Preferred Chat Language

You can now choose your chat language directly from your profile settings in the mobile apps, just like on the website!

🛠️ Bug Fixes

• Old chat mixing up with new chat? Fixed.

• Voice playback continuing after switching voices? Resolved.

• PNG avatars showing with a blue background instead of transparent? That’s gone too.

• Deleting/cloning chats wasn’t auto-selecting the last message — all fixed up now.

📌 Please note: To see the updates in action, make sure to manually update your app. Otherwise, the changes will roll out automatically over the next few days if you have auto-updates turned on.

💻 Web Updates

✨ New Chat UI Released

Just like the native, the new chat UI is released for our website too!

🔧 Minor UI Tweaks Across the Platform

• Refined the "Discard Changes" modal with the proper CTA button.

• Smoothed out visual issues in the "Tags" field on the chatbot creation page.

• The spinner icon for image generation was polished.

We’ve just rolled out a few helpful fixes to improve your experience on the web:

• 📝 Editing Prompt Bug: In Chat Page V2, the chat would sometimes scroll away from the cursor while editing messages or image prompts. This has now been fixed.
• 💾 Draft Save Confusion: When saving a chatbot as a draft, you may have seen a "Discard Changes" modal pop up unnecessarily. That’s now resolved and should behave properly.
• 🏷️ Hidden Error Messages on Tag Submission: If you submitted a tag and there was an error, the warning message would sometimes appear behind the modal. This has been fixed so it’s clearly visible.

📱 iOS App Update:
The updated iOS version we mentioned last week is still pending approval from Apple. We’ll let you know as soon as it’s live!

We’re back with your weekly dose of updates — and this one’s got everything from community-powered design choices to major bug fixes across web and mobile. Let’s dive in! 

Chat Layout Poll Results Are In!
A big thank you to everyone who participated in our recent layout survey! We heard you loud and clear — Option 3 was the clear winner! The team is getting to work and will be implementing this layout soon. We appreciate your input and can’t wait to roll it out for everyone.

Website Fixes & Tweaks
While native took the spotlight this week, we’ve also made a few key improvements to the web experience:

• Avatar Blur Setting Not Applying: In some cases, avatar images in chat weren’t being blurred even when users had “Blur NSFW” enabled. This is now fixed, and avatars will blur as expected.
• “Submit for Review” Popping Up Randomly: When editing a public character, the “Submit for Review” modal would sometimes appear even without changes being made. We've fixed the trigger so it only shows up when relevant.
• PNG Avatars Showing with Blue Backgrounds: Transparent PNG avatars were incorrectly rendering with a blue background instead of staying transparent. That display bug is now resolved.

Mobile Apps Updates
We’ve made a number of improvements to the native experience this week, especially in chat:

• Bot Avatar Shape: Based on user feedback, we've updated the character’s image in the ChatHero section from circular back to square.
• Better Image Viewing: Tapping on any image in a chat now opens a larger view in a proper modal.
• Bubble Avatar Zoom: Pressing on a character’s avatar in a message bubble now opens it in full view.

Bug Fixes (Mobile Apps)

• Copy Message Causing Duplication: Using the copy option in chat was sometimes duplicating messages across conversations. This is now fixed.
• Image Regeneration Flow: Regenerating an image would previously create a separate message instead of replacing the original. The image now updates properly within the same message bubble.
• Editing Long Messages Caused Scroll Jumps: When editing longer messages, the screen would jump to the end, making it hard to view or type at the intended point. We've fixed this so the cursor stays where it should.
• Low-Res Avatar in Bubbles: In some cases, chat bubble avatars were loading at lower resolution than the header image. This has been corrected.
• Tag Suggestions Not Working: Users were unable to suggest tags on public chatbot profiles. This functionality has now been restored.
• Greeting Message Uneditable: The greeting message wasn’t editable when starting a new chat. That issue has been fixed.
• Blur Setting Ignored on Zoom: NSFW images that were blurred in chat would become unblurred when zoomed into full view. They now remain blurred as expected.
• Crash Fixes: We've resolved a few issues that were causing unexpected crashes for some users.

Rollout Notes

• These changes are being rolled out to both Android and iOS.
• The Android update is already live and available to download.
• The iOS update is currently awaiting Apple’s approval. We’ll notify you once it’s released.

🌐 Translated Content Now Available on Homepage & Search!

Today, we’re excited to roll out another big update for our multilingual users—translated content is now live on the homepage and search results. Chatbots that have been translated will now appear in your preferred chatting language across both homepage and search.

To try it out:

- Head over to your Profile Settings

- Set your Preferred Chatting Language

- Return to the homepage and you’ll see translated bots in that language (if available)

This feature is currently available on web only.

🎭 Character Limit Increase For Persona

We have increased the character limit for persona to 1000 characters.

🧩 Website UI & Experience Fixes

✅ Square Avatars Are Back

 Just like the Native, we’ve brought back square profile images in chat for better character visibility—just as you requested!

✅ Image Generation Stability

 Fixed an issue where images in conversation would fail on the resubmit.

✅ “Back” Navigation Now Remembers Sort Settings

 On the My Chatbots page, your sorting selection will now be preserved when navigating back.

✅ Greeting/Personality Field Display Fix

 On the chatbot profile page, we’ve cleaned up the “Show More/Less” toggle, so it only appears when there’s actually more to show.

✅ Tags Suggestion Fixed

 Suggest tag on public chatbots feature is now fixed and working as expected.

✅ Tag suggestion Modal Display

 On mobile web, tag suggestion modal now appear fully on screen—no more cut-off content.

✅ Message Edit Button Visibility

 Fixed a UI issue where the Save button was hard to see when editing messages.

✅ Tag Search Field Visibility (Light Mode)

 Typed text in the tag search bar is now clearly visible in light theme.

You can once again long-press a chat bubble to copy or edit your messages—just like you asked.

✅ Smarter Input Box

We've fixed the input height so long messages won’t take over your screen and you can still view the previous messages.

✅ Square Avatars Return

Character images are back to their clean, square shape for better visibility and consistency.

✅ One-Click Edits

No more clicking twice to save an edit—just tap once and you’re done!

📲 Make sure to update your app manually to see these changes in action. Otherwise it'll auto update in the next 24 to 72 hours.

We’ve pushed out a few tweaks and fixes to improve your overall experience on both web and mobile:

✅ Text Highlight Color Restored

Selected text was showing up as pink in both light and dark mode — it’s now been restored to a more readable and theme-appropriate color.

✅ Mobile Input Box Fix

On some mobile devices, the chat input box was being partially blocked by the bottom home bar. This is now fixed — typing should feel a lot smoother!

✅ NSFW Toggle Flicker Removed

We’ve fixed a flickering issue when enabling the NSFW toggle on the Profile Settings page.

✅ Android Blur NSFW Issue Fixed

The Blur NSFW content option should now work as expected in the android app. (This fix was deployed yesterday)

We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes to make your SpicyChat experience smoother, faster, and more reliable. Here’s what’s new this week:

🌐 Web Updates

- We made several frontend improvements to deliver a smoother homepage performance.

- Fixed an issue where the back button would redirect to the homepage instead of your previous page.

- Memory Manager issues resolved – deleting memories now works properly, and new ones are created as expected.

- Character creation token limit increased 🎉 – You now have 1600 tokens to build deeper and more complex characters (up from 1200). This is made possible by our recent context memory increase for our Free and Get A Taste users.

- Usernames now support dashes and underscores – and we’ve fixed a bug where underscores weren’t being recognized properly.

📱 Native App Fixes (iOS & Android)

- Fixed login issues that were blocking some users from signing in.

- Blocking A Creator will now show a proper confirmation modal.

- Favoriting multiple bots now works as expected.

- Chatbot cards no longer overlap on responsive layouts.

- Repeated chatbot suggestions on the homepage have been fixed.

- Search now works more reliably across the app.

- Improved error messages – you'll now see specific details when something goes wrong (especially during character creation).

- Fixed the issue where the app would log you out every time it closed.

- Auto message generation is now more stable and behaves as expected.
