We’ve got a few exciting updates to share — plus a little housekeeping on what’s coming next week.

🚧 Feature Updates & Upcoming Projects

Many of you have been asking about Lorebooks and Group Chats — here’s where we are:

📘 Private Lorebooks are currently live for our closed beta group, and early feedback’s been super helpful! We’re squashing bugs and aiming to roll it out to everyone within the next 3–4 weeks.

💬 Group Chats are actively in development and will also head to closed beta testing soon.

🌍 Multilingual Interface is in the works too, with an expected release early next year — so you’ll soon be able to browse Spicychat in your preferred language. 

We’ll also be opening up our beta testers group to more users tomorrow — keep an eye on announcements if you’d like to join!

We know these are highly requested features, and we’re taking our time to make sure they launch smooth and strong.

🔞 Age Assurance Launching Next Week

In order to effectively enforce our guidelines and policies, next week, we’ll start rolling out age assurance in places where it’s a legal requirement. It’s not the most exciting change — and we get that — but it’s something we have to do to support these regions. 

This rollout will cover:

⚠️ Important: You’ll have a grace period to get verified when is convenient for you.

Web:

• Fixed an issue where pressing Load Previous Messages jumped you back to the bottom.
  
  
• Fixed a UX issue where clicking on images in selected messages would open them incorrectly.
  
  
• Fixed crashes when selecting or searching tags while creating chatbots.
  
  

Android:

• Fixed “See More” being blocked when viewing full bot personalities.
  
  
• Fixed Remove Conversation button not showing for the last chat card.

📱 iOS App Update
Unfortunately, our appeal to restore the iOS app was rejected. We’ve submitted one final appeal and are doing our best to bring it back.
If you already have the app installed, you can continue using it for now. However, for the best and most updated experience, we highly recommend switching to the web version at spicychat.ai.

⚙️ New Model Selection Experience
We’ve completely refreshed how you select and manage your AI models — making it faster, simpler, and easier to use!

✨ Here’s what’s new:

• A dedicated Model icon is now visible at the top of every chat.
• You can instantly see which model is active and switch with just one click.
  
  

• The menu now neatly separates:

  • Available Models (based on your tier)
  • Explore All Models (to see everything SpicyChat offers)
  • Generation Settings (for tuning response style and length)
    
    
    
• When changing models, you’ll now need to confirm your choice with a “Set Model” button — helping prevent accidental changes.
  
  
  

This update is now live on both Web and Android.

🧩 Farewell to OpenAI API Keys
We’ve made the decision to discontinue OpenAI API key support due to low usage.
Starting November 17, you’ll no longer be able to add new API keys, and all existing ones will stop working.

We’re thrilled to announce a brand-new feature that takes your chats to the next level — Search Command in Chat! (Web only)

You can now use /search inside your conversations to pull in real-time information from the internet and give your characters richer, more accurate context.

How it works:

Just type /search followed by your query, and the system will look it up, summarize the results, and integrate them directly into the context to generate a new response.

It’s perfect for finding real-world facts, cultural details, current events, or info about new games, anime, and stories — letting your roleplays feel more alive and up to date.

We’ve also polished how commands appear in chat bubbles — they’re now cleaner and visually separated from your messages.

We’re making a small but important update to our content policy to help keep SpicyChat a safe, creative, and respectful place for everyone.Our goal is to protect personal rights while encouraging originality and imagination within the community.

This update affects how real or realistic images are used on the platform — keeping creativity front and center while ensuring no real individuals are represented without consent.

🔒 What’s Changing

- Moving forward, real image uploads of actual individuals — whether public figures or private individuals — will no longer be allowed.

- For existing characters, creators will have two weeks to update their avatars. After that period, any remaining real images will be automatically replaced with an anime-style version of the original. You’ll still be able to update those images anytime with new artwork that follows our updated guidelines.
